Elyse Knight (Company Member) recently played Hilary Clinton in a new musical by Claudio Angelini, Obama in Naples, at the Italian Embassy in Washington, D.C. Last fall she was proud to be selected to play Barbara in the East Coast Regional Premiere of August: Osage County at White Plains Performing Arts Center, after returning from Vermont where she played Madame Arkadina in a site-specific production of The Seagull. “…an exhilarating event” James Atlas, NY Times. Prior to that, she spent a year playing Dr. Victoria Frankenstein, in 3 different gender-bending versions of the Gothic novel by Mary Shelley. (Rabbit Hole Ensemble)  Other New York credits include, Kate in Before Your Very Eyes, (also for Rabbit Hole Ensemble) and Nancy in Secrets of a Soccer Mom (Snapple Theatre, Off-Broadway, directed by Judith Ivey) Film and TV credits include: The Egoists, Law and Order, The New Saint, Caroline’s Comedy Hour, Life With Chippy, and Too Close For Comfort.

Ms. Knight has a BFA in Drama from the University of Southern California and has studied with Michael Howard, Wynn Handman, and Caymichael Patten.  She has taught workshops for Caymichael Patten, Playwrights Theatre of New Jersey, and The Depot Theatre in Garrison, NY, where she directed young actors in plays by Shakespeare, Mamet, and Durang. She was Artistic Director for Off World Theatre during 4 years in residence at the Puffin Cultural Forum, in Teanceck New Jersey, where she still teaches acting workshops. Her final project with Off World, Count Down, by Dominique Cieri, was re-mounted at the West Bank Theatre, and received raves. “It's Knight's well-rehearsed ensemble that makes Count Down such a worthwhile experience.”  “Knight and Cieri handle these highs and lows with a deft hand.” Previously, Ms. Knight was Artistic Director for the Unlimited Potential Theater Company in New Brunswick, NJ, which produces plays for actors with physical challenges, a project of VSA Arts, New Jersey.
